We have worked hard to create a fantastic balanced curriculum aimed at inspiring and stimulating our children to learn and to be creative.
The Outdoors - we believe in using our wonderful outdoor environment to learn and find out about our world, so this means we sometimes get dirty!
Local - our school is located in a beautiful area of Somerset, so we use what is on our doorstep to enhance learning.
Values – our Christian values underpin teaching and learning at Charlton Mackrell. See more about Church School distinctiveness in the ‘Collective Worship and our Church’ section of this website.
In Rainbow Class, our reception children follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum with plenty of play experiences and a link from nursery or playgroup to the full curriculum in Year 1. They follow the Read, Write, Inc phonics scheme. Please see link below for the DfE Early Years Statutory Framework.
From the age of five, all children follow the National Curriculum in English, Maths, Science, Computing, PE, Religious Education, Geography, History, Art, Design and Technology, Music, and French for juniors. We also follow a programme of Personal, Social, Health and Citizenship Education (PSHCE). Priority is given to the core subjects of English, Maths, Science and Computing.
