Charlton Mackrell School Board of Governors
 

The organisation of the Governing Body of Charlton Mackrell C of E Primary School is set out in the school’s most recent Instrument of Government, effective on 11 February 2015.

We have an active and supportive Governing Body which comprises 11 people; 1 local authority governor, 2 foundation governors, 3 parent governors, 3 co-opted governors, 1 staff governor and the Headteacher.  The board has the option to co-opt up to one further member.

The Full Governing Board (FGB) meets regularly every half term and Governors also volunteer for individual ‘link’ roles and duties to specific areas of the curriculum and meet in various committees or working parties covering Personnel and Performance matters, Financial Monitoring, Performance & Standards, Premises and Curriculum.

Full board meetings for 2019/20 commence on 16 September 2019; further meetings are 18 November; 27 January; 23 March; 11 May and 22 June. 

Chair of Governors – Mr Alastair Thompson (AJ) 
AJ is a Parent Governor, elected by the parents/carers of pupils at the school.  His current 4-year term of office began on 21.09.2018 and will end on 20.09.2022.  He sits on the Strategy Working Group and is the Link Governor for all Armed Forces and Service family matters.  He is the governor lead for the EYFS outdoor area development project.

Vice Chair of Governors – Mr Keith O’Boyle

Keith is a Parent Governor, elected by the parents/carers of pupils at the school.  His current 4-year term of office began on 28.11.2017 and will end on 27.11.2021.  He is Chairman of the Finance Committee and sits on the Personnel Committee.

Mrs Rebecca Cawley is our Headteacher and joined the school on 01.09.2018.  Her term of office is unlimited and she attends all committees and meetings as required.  Business / Pecuniary Interest declared – None.  Attendance at governor meetings in last academic year, 100%. 

 

Reverend Alan Symonds is an Ex-Officio Foundation Governor, appointed by the Diocese.  His term of office began on 18.06.2012 and is unlimited, and he is our Link Governor for all Church School matters.  
Business / Pecuniary Interest declared – Member, Director & Trustee of King Ina C of E Multi Academy Trust.   Attendance at governor meetings in last academic year, 83%.

 

Mrs Celia Mycock is the highly experienced Local Authority appointed Governor at our school.  Her current 4-year term of office began on 24.04.2018 and will end on 23.04.2022.  She is a member of the Finance Committee and of the Personnel Committee.  She has served the school for many years, being a past Chair of Governors and past Chair of Finance Committee.

Mr Kevin Moore is a Foundation Governor and a PCC appointment.  His current 4-year term of office began on 23.05.2018 and will end on 22.05.2022.  He is a past Chair of Governors and the Link Governor for SEN, a member of Performance& Standards and Personnel committees and also the Premises Working Party Lead.

Mrs Terrie Elliss is a Co-opted Governor, re-appointed by the Governing Body.   Her current 2-year term of office began on 12.02.2019 and will end on 11.02.2021.  She is the Safeguarding Governor, Link Governor with Friends of CM School, a member of the Performance & Standards Committee and the Strategy Working Group.
She was previously an elected Community Governor at this school and has been a former Chair of Governors at another school.

Mr Marcus Hindley is a Co-opted Governor, re-appointed by the Governing Body.  His current 2-year term of office began on 27.09.2018 and will end on 26.09.2020.  He is the Link Governor for ICT and a member of the Finance Committee.

Mr Mike McGraw is a Parent Governor, appointed by the Governing Body.  His 4-year term began on 18.07.2017 and will end on 17.07.2021.  A past parent of pupils who attended this school, he is a member of the Finance Committee and leads the Strategy Working Group.

Mrs Maddie Carter-Rice is the staff representative on the Governing Body, having been elected by the staff of the school.  She is a teacher at the school and a member of the Performance & Standards Committee.  Her 4-year term of office began on 01.09.2018 and will end on 31.08.2022.

Mr Charlie Hull is a Co-opted Governor, appointed by the Governing Body.  His 2-year term began on 16/09.2019 and will end on 15.09.2021.  He is Chairman of the Performance & Standards Committee and a member of both the Strategy Working group and the Personnel Committee.

Mrs Anna Train was a Co-opted Governor, appointed by the Governing Body.  She resigned on 07 May 2019.  She served as a Link Governor to Friends of Charlton Mackrell School.
